Ready OS X image for AAO

Apple is the one major computer maker who has not really been affected much by the recession. Part of the reason, IMHO, is that the recession has hurt lower class and lower middle class families the most, with upper middle class people less affected and the wealthy are hardly affected at all. Apple tends to cater to the latter two categories more than the first two, so they haven't been hurt as much as, for instance, HP or Dell might be.

As for your comments about the install image, you make a good point, except that it is not really relevant on this board as all models of the AA1 have the same hardware (other than the size of storage and ram, which wouldn't matter anyway). I'm getting ready to re-install my system (as soon as my new wireless card gets here) and may very well make a ghost image of it once I have it set up and post that image to a torrent site for others to use.

 

That's the problem.
Every time I try to go to register it is "Not available for registration".
Very frustrating.

I agree. The (b)*ankers would have seen this coming and salted away assets so they are not touchable. The less well informed would have to bear the pain as usual!!

That was my thought when I disagreed with the previous post. The AAO is a standardised platform! Until such time as you change the WLAN or add bluetooth. If you do that tehn you are obviously at risk but the image file would still be of value.
This is why I am dubious when people say they have but wont post the evidence. Call me cynical if you will.

 

Even changing the wireless card or adding a bluetooth dongle wouldn't matter much. Most bluetooth dongles are natively supported by OS X, and therefore would be set up automatically, and obviously the only reason to change the wireless card would be to install one that is natively supported in OS X.

 

I got the torrent already. Actually downloaded the 16Gb file. You just have to register using the link and not using google translate since a max limit will be reached. I will see if I can upload the torrent somewhere. Will update you.

Have you tried Windows LiveDrive?. Seems like a useful thing to use Microsoft for ;-)
Alternatively there is snail mail if it is possible to burn DVDs of the image. Is it one large file or many smaller 100MB RARs ?

I wonder - i saw it's iDeneb 10.5.5, doesn't that mean it has to be modified again after an update?

 

Already installed it. Naturally the wifi card isnt working on the mac os. With regards to windows xp, its in russian. Even if you change the regional settings, it will be in russian. Also the guy who uploaded it (thanks!) installed a lot of applications to the XP which bloated the TIB image file to 16 GB. Will try installing XP to the 3rd partition, hopefully this will work.

What Wifi card are you using?
Standard Atheros or a replacement Dell 1390 card?

The Dell 1390 and others are supported under OSX. ;-)

I have a Dell 1390 waiting for my new AAO that I got on ebay last night.
Just got to wait for the post to deliver it here in Spain from UK.

Need to get that 16GB image file and then I can test.
Much easier than making personal custom builds.

sleep not work. but you can install sleep fix.
I build next image with wi-fi. But driver wi0fi not found now, now I wating for driver.

Got the image.
Now I need to make the Acronis restore disks and put the image onto the AAO.
Next weeks work as I have to do some other jobs.
I'll post a full update as to what I did another week if it all works.

That's not a ready to go image, that is simply an iATKOS DVD image and some extra drivers and apps bundled together with install instructions.
