my AAO's internet seems to be going REALLLLLLY slow its going like 6k when it should be going 450k at least. its not the site that im downloading from coz it happens with every site. im goin to un-install the drivers and then re-install them and see if that fixes it. i was just wondering if anyone has had these problems before??

    thanks

Try upgrading your wireless driver, I tracked down a newer version than what is available on the Acer site (Atheros WLAN Driver v7.6.0.224) I'm not at my netbook at the moment, but I believe it was version 7.6.0.239 and it made all the difference in the world. (try a search for Atheros 7.6.0.239) I've seen a .260 version as well, but the 239 seems to have fixed my problems.

the download link is under the part where it says content then under the part that has a ad banner and then it says DOWNLOADS (its in red) and then finally under that it has the download. lol its hard to find

this is a really bizarre issue. i had the slow internet issue also i updated to 7.6.0.239 drivers.

its great at first, but noticed that after waking up from being suspended that it goes back to being really slow, and it goes back to normal fast speed after a reboot. anyone else encounter the same scenario?

    please post up.

    thanks

    @techguy

Are you using acerfan to control your fan?

besides the driver "problem" tweaking the TCP/IP Settings with tools like CableNuts mentioned here also often helps:
    viewtopic.php?f=34&t=5183

I'm using Driver 7.6.0.264 and with tweaked TCP/IP Settings for ADSL i improved from 400KB/sec to about 800KB/sec
still not my full speed of 1300KB but at least doubled the rate per connection ;)

Maybe these 7.6.1.149 will improve the speed further more but it seems they removed it from their download page

    **update**
with 7.6.1.149 and tweaked TCP/IP Settings i reach ~1000KB/s with one thread wich is about 80% of my line which is acceptable
The Driver can still be found in the net, e.g. on the Thailand Acer Website

@all I would also recommend a Download Manager like Flashget 1.9x so you can
easily reach your full line speed with 2 or 3 partial download streams/threads...

There's no tweaked driver just a newer Version of the Atheros Driver and a Tool to tweak Windows TCP/IP Settings...
