Acer has a link on their site to purchase recovery CD's. I put in my serial number and proceeds to ask for my shipping info. Looks like 9.95 for the CD's and $10.00 to ship.

    Has anyone done this?

I'm in for one. I have XP, and I want to play with Linpus Linux, knowing that I can run crying back to a real XP install if I'm so inclined....

Well, if you are Canadian, it's total is $50.00! And the webpage states it'll be several weeks. I think I'd rather ghost the partition first.

If this is the linpus cd, then the image has been online for quite a while.

Grr... the disc that arrived is the Linpus Linux recovery disc... my AAO had WinXP Home... looks like I have to call and complain....

Update: I called Acer Customer Support, and the polite man on the phone said that Acer sends all AAO support requests to a separate number - 866-695-2237 (7am-6pm CST). He explained that they did that because "all of the Aspire Ones have Linux, which we don't normally support." I explained that mine actually had Windows XP, and he seemed surprised. Anyway, he assured me that they'd make sure I got the right recovery discs.

I too ordered the eRecovery Cd for my WinXp AAO and I too received the Linux recovery disk! I will have to call Acer on Tuseday to get this resolved.
Keep us updated if you actually get the correct winxp disk!

its so funny how the workers don't know that AAO comes with XP too, I bet that they know nothing about their own products.

I called AAO Support again Saturday morning, and got an agent who must be new. After every comment or question I asked, she would put me on hold. My objective was to get them to ship me the Windows disc, since I was sent the Linux disc by mistake. The support agent explained that I would need to call back in a few days and request that. I replied that I was asking her to do that right now, and asked if there was some kind of problem that prevented her from doing that. She said there was no problem, but that I would need to call back in a few days anyway. It was surreal. I finally teased out of her the fact that her "system" wasn't letting her submit the request to send me the disc. Painful phone call, let me tell you...

With how new the Aspire One still is, you can not expect the support staff to know very much about it just yet, or have all the replacement parts on hand. I am not surprised at all that they send the Linpus disc. I was actually shocked to see they were offering the recovery CD so soon, being that it was not included in the retail packaging.

I called Support on Monday morning and spoke to a pleasant and helpful person. I explained I had ordered the restore disk for my AAO which had WinXp installed and received the Linux restore disk. He said no problem and proceeded to re-order the disk for Windows which he had a part number for and gave me an order number. As I was saying goodbye he said wait a minute, I have an error on my screen. Apparently they have the part numbers for the disks but cannot place orders for them. He said he would contact the appropriate department and get it resolved.......... I will give them a week and if no disk, I will get a refund including the $10 shipping or do a Charge back if they give any problems.
