I didn't make any recovery disc's for the netbook when I first got it. Now it says I will need 9 Cd's or 2 DVDs  to make a recovery disk to resort factory settings. If I don't bother and just make a drivers disk would I be able to just reinstall windows with any XP OEM disk and the key printed on the underside of the unit?

Also how do I save the driver disk onto a USB stick of external HDD so I can burn the disk on my desktop? The recovery system just says there is no optical device connected and gives no other options. :?

I just got mine yesterday and right after I booted up XP it told me the same info. It will take a tad over 5GB to create the Recovery 1/2 discs and one disc for Drivers (using dvds). It writes them pretty quick, but takes hours to verify the data on them, so don't be in a hurry!

Not sure about the OEM XP discs working -- I would make recovery discs.

I bought a Windows 7 3-pack Home Premium upgrade edition and right after making my backups installed Windows 7 Home Premium. The install was fairly quick and all the drivers are there so was a snap to get working. Windows 7 also lets you make an Image disc.
