    Oh Dear,

So I installed Ubuntu onto my Aspire last night.
I works well, except that it no longer shows streeaming video like YouTube or BBC IPlayer.

So I thought I'd restore Linpus.

Some people reading these words will I'm sure either be laughing or tut tutting and saying things like I told you so.

Anyway.........I can't get the restore disk to work.
It just puts a large white logo and a large white line on my screen and does nothing.

So..........either I get Ubuntu to show video somehow, or I need to get the Aspire restore software some other way.
OR I might be using too small a USB stick (3.75Mb)

Going out to dig the garden now to get rid of my frustrations.

go to the add/remove programs utility and do a search for ubuntu restricted extras, making sure that all programs is selected and not just supported programs, and install it. this will allow flash and mp3s to work on your system as well as other things. this should allow you to see YouTube and iplayer stuff.

Found it. Installed OK BBC IPlayer still not working though, although it looks like it is really trying hard to succeed.

    Solved.

Finally got a working Linpus USB doohdad to work and now I'm back to Linpus.

AND.............even though it doesn't look quite so classy, everything appears to work so much better, including BBC IPlayer.

You can have whatever desktop you like, I run only Linpus but with a XFCE desktop, have a look in the how to guide section. ;)
