Hi. Got an aspire one 10 and am very happy with it after using it for over a year. It's preloaded with win 7 starter. My concern now is the recovery partition. Obviously after one year, there's been a lot of software updates. Is there a way to update also the recovery partition? Or is it meant to remain with the original state of win 7 starter? Thanks in advance for your help.

I'd suggest going through your start menu and looking for the recovery disk builder as your best bet. It's general purpose is to create bootable recovery media based on your current installation of Windows, which should by rights include any software and updates you've installed since.

Just as a tip though, add/remove programs you no longer use first and run some thorough disk cleanup utilities to ensure the system is as clean as possible before building recovery media.

Failing that, Windows 7 should also have it's own backup software installed. It's been a while since I've used it, but as far as I can remember you can also use the built in Win7 backup stuff to create a bootable media to completey restore your system.

Thanks for the tip, swarvey. After thinking about it, I see your point. I did take an image of the system. In case of a problem, I can always use the recovery partition to get going and then restore with the image.
