Do you mean a recovery cd? The Linux version comes with a recovery CD. The CD can also be used to clone itself to a USB memory stick.

    Ok, thanks.

I don't know how to do that. Any good tutorials around?

Edit: How large should the memory of the USB memory stick be?

When you boot off the CD (on a computer with a cd drive), the first menu has a selection which automates the whole process for you. You simply plug in a USB/flash drive with a min capacity of 1gb and press go and 10 minutes later you have a bootable recovery USB key.

make sure you unplug your hard drives if you try to run the recovery CD. I recommend the other methods post on this forum (including the above method...didn't try it myself though).

Also, the image is 1.92gb which is usually a few Mb larger than a formatted 2gb flash drive (some brands are more generous than others). You'll probably need to get yourself a 4gb flash drive.

I used the dvd/usb recovery route when i turned my AAO 150 into a non-booting brick.

Inserted the dvd into the drive on my lappy, put the usb (2gb Lexar) into a spare usb port. Within about 10 mins the usb stck had been configured as my AAO recovery disc.

Booted the AAO after having changed the boot options to boot from usb disc, 15-20 mins top the AAO was rebooted and working as good as new!

(worst part was accidently overwriting my vista OS on the lappy and having to restore that first! lol)

Sounds to me like an added benefit included for free with the recovery disk process. :) I knew there had to be some easy way to get rid of Vista and I guess this is it.

    Cheers.
