I'm currently between laptops and am trying to buy an interim computer; nothing permanent, just something that will work between now and when I finally save up enough to get a decent laptop. So I was considering buying a refurbished computer since they seem to be pretty cheap. Something like one of these:

Have you ever bought a refurbished computer/server/anything for that matter? Has it worked out for you, or does it tend to be a hassle?

    Thanks

Hi There, Try http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk . They often have older models at reduced prices in stock and always have deals. I am sure they will have something that will be a bit of a stopgap for you.

I've never heard of that above site, but it doesn't seem very "e-commerce" like. I've had luck with http://techprice.org , although they usually have newer refurbished models. I would check and make sure that the model you buy is factory refurbished from the manufacturer.

You could give the Dell Outlet a try - I picked up a bargain refurbished Dell X1 a few years ago. It was probably about 1/3 the price that it would have been new, but looked/worked great.
