    Hi,

i have installed xp lite on my oo1 linus linpus edition.

During the xp setup i have reformatted the disk.

I have tried to reinstall the linpus linus using an usb stick (builted using the original restore cd),
    but the process doesn't work.

Could be this due to a missing partition on my disk (disk reformatted)?

How can i do in order to restore the linpus os?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

i try to post the question in other words.

The ssd of my aa1 (linux version) is empty (reformatted).

Using the original cd i have the following options:

    1) Install Acer Aspire One

    2) Create an usb stick for Acer Aspire One recovery

Using the option 2), the restore process fails.

If i use an external usb cd-rom with my aa1, using the first option, may i able to install linpus linus from scratch?

    Best regards,
    C.

What specifically fails? What are the messages on the screen when the reinstall fails?

I also installed XP and after that i restored Linpus with the original cd using option 1.That works perfectly if you want only Linpus back on your system. The only but, which i couldn't solve yet, is that the restore sweeps your whole system.

It's designed to do that. That restoration process is designed to restore your SSD to it's out-of-the-box state.

Well i have the 120GB version. It would have been nice when Acer had changed that restore procedure for the 120GB model.

So, when i push "next" in order to start the recovery process, nothing appears. If i push "next" again, the system reboots....

Not any message on the screen...

Do you think that the restore option via cd is different from the restore process via usb stick?

    Thanks.

Restore option should be similar via cd or usb stick. System rebooting doesn't sound good. Have you tried recreating the recovery system on the usb stick?

    Hi,

i think that the recovery process fails due to an integral SSD drive format.

My idea is that the restore process is looking for the MBR partition in order to complete successfully...

    Do you agree with me?

    Thanks,
    C.

I have tried yet using FAT32 usb stick and using an external usb DVD...

The same. The process doesn't work. I think due to a wrong partitioning on my AAO.

Is the first time that i can't restore an original product! ;-)

    Cheers.

Hmmm im thinking this could be a hardware issue with some of your pcs. i havent yet created a restore usb but the restore cd actually boots a livecd of linpus on your machine, linux is always dodgy about hardware and this could be the cause for your errors.

id suggest using a different machine to create the recovery drive before getting a new usb pen.
