Reinstalled windows but need wifi driver & app

Hi I looked in the downloads section of the Acer site for the driver and application to get the wifi happening for my friends Travelmate 290 but the app that I installed looks like it is for infrared not wifi. I have no idea if the driver installed correctly or not. From memory I don't think I found anything listed in Device Manager so I have no idea if it is installed or not. I ran a program called SIW that sees everything in the system but not sure what to look for. The slider for turning wifi on and off is present and there is a led waiting to work for it. I read the manual and I presume that this notebook has this capability. Although it did mention that some models have wifi and some do not. It is not specific enough. What is on the sticker on the notebook is Travelmate 292ELC Intel 852GM chip 40g 256mb ram. Sorry if I posted in the wrong section.
Oh by the way because my friend has no idea about computing I didn't ask what the notebook could or could not do. I reinstalled windows because it had Italian Windows and I had no idea how to change the language into English.

UPDATE: Well I went over to my friends place today and I can confirm that the driver did not install correctly(or indeed there is no wifi component to this machine as when I went into "View network Connections' and only a Lan connection is there. I also noticed that there is a question mark where the video controller is in device manager so will have to get that driver too and pci something? Not sure what that one could be.

If you don't see any wireless device listed in the device manager, look for unknown devices with question marks on them. Update the driver for an unknown and point it to the wifi drivers.
