Previously I owned an Aspire 1 with 120GB conventional HD, the machine died and was returned but not before I reinstalled Linpus using the supplied DVD.

My new machine , an AOA 110 has a 16GB SSD and shows a 1.7GB backup partition as well as the normal OS partitions.

Is the supplied DVD a complete installation or does it use the backup partition?

Not familiar with that system. Can you mount the backup partition and examine its contents?

The supplied DVD is a complete system. In addition, i'd disable D2D in bios.
