    Hi!

I used the froum search, but found nothing that i was able to use, so i ask for your help.

I have bought an used Acer aspire one A110L (8GBSSD, Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.6.E).
I wanted to install Skype, so i downloaded the latest version for Fedora 10+ from this page:
    http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-sky ... -download/

When i installed the package, the installation is aborted with the messages
    /mnt/home/Downloads/skype-2.1.0.81-fc10.i586.rpm is already installed
    and then
No packages were given for installation.

Obviously, skype had already been installed. However, if i search for "skype" on my harddrive, i get no results. Why is there no program folder, if there is a previous installation? How can i delete the old version in linux? I do not know about command lines/ terminal operations.

    Thanks in advance,
    globetrotter

Go into files and under "file" you'll have a "terminal" option. Open this, after the cursor enter...
    Code:
    sudo yum remove skype
because the version you have installed is for a recent version of fedora. Google "ten tweaks for the acer aspire one" and open the so called "advanced mode" this will give you some indication of where to find apps
Linpus is based on fedor 8. NO LONGER SUPPORTED. Get rid and put something better maybe? meantime...

These issues have been dealt with many times so search harder eh?

as stated in the reply from Darryl the original Linpus version is based on Fedora 8. if you want use Skype you'd use the appropriate version. in your case Skype seems to be installed already. in the Ten Tweaks for the AA1 article you can find how to activate new apps in the dashboard GUI. see: http://www.reghardware.com/2008/09/05/t ... _one_tips/

if you feel Linpus is too outdated (Fedora 8 is long discontinued) you could take a look at Fedora 14 LXDE. I use it for about a month on my AA1 110L 8Gb SSD and it performs superb! you can read one of the other treads about it on this forum. haven't tried to install Skype but it should be working.
