Removing Compiz

    I'm trying to reclaim as much space as possible, and would like to know if one can remove Compiz without ill-effect.

    well, after getting no answer, i became impatient and learned that uninstalling compiz makes it unable for me to play divx movies.
    now going to put it back in.

    Thanks for experimenting, I was considering removal as well.

    I don't play divx movies though.
