I've upgraded to Ubuntu so I have a 16gig partition laying around with Linpus on which I can get rid of. I've installed the gnome partition editor and am ready to delete it and free up the space for Ubuntu, only I'm worried that it's some sort of special boot partition (the partition editor does say `boot' as a flag for it) which will stop Ubuntu from loading up Grub properly.

What is the best procedure for achieving my aims?

If you installed Ubuntu after the Linpus install, as a dual boot, you should be fine reformatting the Linpus partition and using it for something else. Ubuntu would have written the MBR to allow booting to its Grub menu.lst.

    Cheers.

That's one possibility, but I'd rather simply remove it. Is there some reason why this cannot be done?
