Removing SD Card

There is a right way and a wrong way to remove a SD card from the right side slot. The wrong way is to just pull it out. If you do this the computer will give you a message something like: UNSAFE DEVICE REMOVAL, followed by some additional explanation. They do refer to a green button.

The right way is to use one of the File Manager options; for example, Click on Files > My Pictures.
Notice in the upper left hand corner of the window there is My Disk and below that is SD/MMC. (The SD/MMC is only present if a card is inserted.)
To the right of the SD/MMC there is a green button. This is the green button you want to click before you remove the SD card. After you click it a message box will appear saying it is OK to remove the device.

I guess the Linux users who have experience know how to do this with code. But I had always heard you're not supposed to understand it, that's why they call it CODE.

It seems like this information would have been presented in the owners/user manual someplace.

Actually, the manual is pretty poor throughout, in my opinion. But this problem isn't specifically a Linpus one -- you'll have the same problem with Windows, as I recall.

Yes the manual is very poor in this regards. It mentions nothing about how or what screens to expect when using the expansion slot.

I accidentally put an sd card with essential files in it into the expansion slot thinking it was the 5-1 reader. Before realising this I was having a bit of trouble figuring out why the slot wasn't clicking the card into place like a 5-1 reader should and then realised it was the expansion slot. Anyway the card wasn't fully in and the One tried to read it and brought up a message asking me if I wanted to include the card into the systems storage space. I clicked no quick, but as I was fiddling with the card still it must have recognised it again and automatically added the storage, so I paniced and pulled it out without unmounting it (I thought it would wipe the card of all files). Worrying I may have broke the slot I've tried a different card, but this time it doesn't ask me if I want integrate it into the system storage it just does it.

Do you think the slot will be ok still?
