I would like to return my 751h to the factory settings with a clean installation of XP. I did burn the backup CD/DVD disks, but I don't know how to completely run this operation. I did reinstall my Acer to factory condition with the 2 Recovery disks that I previously burned. Can anyone tell me what the Acer recovery disk called "AppDrv" contains? I'm guess "drivers", but I'm wondering if I need to use any thing on this disk since I did do the 2 step recovery disk operation.

Have you tried [ALT]+[F10] at startup? It might take a few attempts (it doesn't seem to work if you simply hold down [ALT] and keep pressing [F10], you keen to keep pressing both together), but that should give the option to reinstall XP from scratch, and return to factory defaults.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Well, 8 months later, but better than never. If your 751 still boots just do Start -> All programs -> Acer -> Acer Recovery Management. That will get you going quite easily.

Good luck (if you still need it)

    8 months? :)

If he's running Windows 7, like his sig says, then chances are he hasn't got the Acer Recovery Management stuff on there, as I'm assuming he installed Windows 7 himself. As long as he didn't trash his recovery partition, then the [ALT]+[F10] should work for him.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Oops - I looked at the wrong date. The post is in fact very recent indeed. All the better.

I guess you are right about the Win 7 thing. Did not think of that
