I have had the loan of an almost-unused Aspire1 netbook and would like to return it in as pristine a condition as possible. It has 2 bookmarks, no new apps, been upgraded online and a bit of tweaking. What I DIDN'T do is make a full backup (PING?) before fiddling, I'm ashamed to say.

I am hoping someone can provide a fairly definitive list of the various config-type files that can be stripped out in the sure knowledge that they will be replaced as needed by the system, what browser files can be stripped out and maybe a supply of original such files to replace the possibly modified ones. Maybe even a script to do all this ;-)

I wondered if a template of such a script might exist?

    Windows ? Linpus ?
If it is a Windows Aspire One, you can use the included eRecovery system to return it to factory conditions.
If it is a Linpus Aspire One, you can use the included Recovery DVD to make a bootable USB-key, that reinstalls the AAO to factory conditions.

Linpus. Sorry about that. And thanks for replying.

The disk is in the box but still wrapped. The owner would be more upset to see it unpacked than odd dodgy changes to the GUI/apps. No, I don't understand either! The cleverer among us might grep the whole directory tree for files with a recent date and decide a list from that, plus their prior knowledge. Oh well...

Couldn't he use the D2D recovery to restore factory settings?

No D2D partition on the Linpus AAO A110.
