What is the advantage of running tinyXP? I have tweaked the hell out of regular XP, does tinyXP run faster?

Hello and a big THANK YOU to Ron!!

I got the Ron TinyXP version with FanControl v.0.9(i think ...) preinstalled, and I upgraded to 1.6.

Does the latest version of the Ron TinyXp has FanControl 1.6 preinstalled ??

For internet explorer go to torrentz.com, and there search for "internet explorer".
You could choose the portable Lite version of IE 6.0 , which can be used without installation.

If you dont know how to work with torrents PM me.

    off topic:
Users of Ron's XP should install IE because it is needed by the KMPayer movie player.
I hope that future versions of Ron's windowses have this preinstalled.

    off topic 2:
what do you guys say we make like a Ron Future Windows release wish list ?

Looks like I was mistaken; the IE6SP2 rendering engine IS installed in Ron's image. I found portable versions of IE6 & 7 which work fine, but what I really need is to update the system's default rendering engine from IE6 to IE7 (GWT development and we're not supporting IE6).

The problem is that during IE7 installation (or IE8) I get an error stating that setup "couldn't initialize Windows Update Manager". I tried manually replacing the rendering engine files but just ended up breaking it.

Ron's had a few suggestions for me to try (.net Framework and a few other things) so I'll give that a whirl. Any other suggestions would be more than welcome.

Overall it's a great package though, can't believe the performance he's squeezed out of these little machines.

ETA: Installing the .Net Framework 3.1SP1 fixed the error I was getting with installing IE7. All is well!

    Grate to hear that!
I also use Ron's XP but it didn't have IE . Also my version of Ron'S XP had AAO Fancontrol ver 0.9.
    Which version did yours have??

I keep feeling that i have the older version ...
Where did you get your GHO from (in case you have the newer one)?
    Thank you!

Sebanab, there is only one release of Ron's TinyXP and Ron has indicated that it's unlikely he will release a newer version.

2manydjs is right, only one image released. You've got the newest image, just update FanControl.

The image is nearly completely updated. It's got SP3 and just about anything anyone would need. I added a few tweaks of my own, some development software, updated FanControl, then made my own image to go back to if things go south later.

I just downloaded and installed Ron's TinyXP. Damn this thing is fast. Like Linpus fast. I went from Windows 7 to this and it is like night and day.

How can I remove the acer fan control? It isn't in my add/remove programs and I dont like how loud it makes my AAO.

Delete the executable and remove the entry in msconfig, is my best guess.
What will you use instead for fan controlling?

The one problem I have with Ron's image is the fact that KLPlayer doesent work wright on it. I installed IE 7 and i still get weird behavior:
    - the subtitles always have black box background
    - when switching from full screen to window mode , the control buttons are not displayed anymore

LE: i just found out from this form that actually KLP is the same thing as VLC in terms of performance , so the fact that KLP works bad won't affect me anymore. SO: Lots of Love to RON !!!

I will let the system handle the fan on its own. I never used any fan controlling software in Linpus or Windows 7.

    1) In add/remove programs remove the software what speaks with the motherboard (TVicPort)
    2) In start->run->msconfig untick the fancontrol software ar startup.
    After reboot:
    3) In C:/windows there is a folder with Fancontrol -> delete this complete folder

    FanControl is completely delete then.
