    Hi,
I am having a new acer aspire 1 with linpus on it.
When i boot up, it logs me in as 'user'.
How do i login as root with the appropriate permissions.
"sudo su" does not seem very effective.
Do i have to explicitly add a /root/ superuser ?

Also, i wanted to install a gcc compiler on it.
Any suggestions how i can get it and how to install it.
    Eagerly awaiting any inputs.

You don't really need a root login account as such, you just run things with root's privileges
    e.g.
    sudo yum install gcc

(p.s. you can do "su root", but what are you wanting to do? It's best not wandering about as root ;)

There's a gcc package in the add/remove software application, pirut. See this post http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=5105 if you haven't found pirut yet!
