I was wondering if somebody knows of a free real-time RPG with decent graphics that will run under the one's specs. =)

It can be installed through the package manager or yum, however it seem it won't run on a display as small as the One's. Says it needs a resolution of at least 1024x768. :(

I try it an same problem but is solve it.

you need to edit setup.txt in /home/user/.egoboo

    modify SCREENSIZE_X and the _Y with 800x600.

and put most of the graphics option at false

    save it.

or Simply change the screensize , start the game and low down the graphic option in the game.

if you want to the key mapping, modify the controls.txt

This game working really great on aspire one.

Thanks for the tip! I was wondering though, how would one update to the newest version? I'm running 2.4 through yum install but the newest one is 2.6.4. I tried yum update egoboo but that did nothing =/

I tried installing it through the package manager, all went well, it appears in the games list, click on the game......nothing.
Thats it, no game, no error or anything, anyone else had this problem? and more importantly, is there a fix?

Sorry to skip away from the problem here, but I felt like mentioning some other RPGs that quickly spring to mind:

For one, http://freedroid.sourceforge.net/ Haven't tried compiling it yet but there are packages in the fedora (a bit older but not too much); package name is "freedroidrpg"

Then there's Beneath A Steel Sky; haven't tried it myself yet, but it looks promising:

    Code:
    Name : beneath-a-steel-sky
    Arch : noarch
    Version: 0.0348
    Release: 4.fc8
    Size : 7.4 M
    Repo : fedora
Summary: Beneath a Steel Sky - Adventure Game
    Description:
After the Dungeons and Dragons fantasy setting of Revolution's first game, Lure
of the Temptress, Revolution decided to go down a completely different avenue
with its second adventure game, Beneath a Steel Sky, that of Science Fiction.
A bleak vision of the future was imagined, where mind control and medical
science combined forces to repress the populace. Leading comic artist, Dave
Gibbons, joined the design team to visualise this desperate landscape. The
result is the cult classic Beneath a Steel Sky.

Notice that this package contains the floppy version, the CD version is also
available in the beneath-a-steel-sky-cd package. The CD version contains
additional / longer cutscenes and voice acting, but also is much larger: the CD
version ways in at 70 MB where as this version is only 8 MB.

I have "sudo yum install beneath-a-steel-sky-cd" running as we speak :)

You could also try a MMORPG.

You could also try a MMORPG. One which works quite well is Dofus. http://www.dofus.com

You will need to download the Mac/Linux version and run it under Firefox as the whole thing is flash based. Hit F11 to full screen it and you're ready to rock'n'roll.

Tried Dofus with Firefox 3. When it comes to actually play the game (by using the Dofus.html as instructed), I just get a black screen. Thought it might be a Flash issue, so removed and reinstalled it, restart, the lot. Nope, still a black screen. Bum.
