I am new to the forum so if this has been asked and answered somewhere, I apologize. I have searched everywhere, I think, but couldn't seem to find an answer.

I have a new AOD250 that came with Win 7 starter and a whole bunch of other crap. Got rid of it and loaded XP Pro. After following the posts here I know I had to change the BIOS settings for the HDD controller from AHCI to IDE, and the new OS installed fine. I D/L'd all the XP x32 drivers from acer, installed them and things seem to be woring fine. The SMbus driver was a little tricky but finally installed. All the hardware has installed properly, however my HDD controller is still in IDE mode. As others have experienced, simply changing the settings in the BIOS brings up the BSOD on boot up. I have seen a few posts on how to "insert" SATA drivers into the WIN iso install or use a USB stick with the SATA drivers on them during install, but here is my question......now that I have WIN XP Pro up and running and my HDD controllers are IDE, is there any practical way to change the controller to SATA W/O having to do a complete re-install.

    Many thanks and Merry Christmas
