My Acer Aspire One 150 XP version has the screen flicker too, seems to happen mostly in sync with the hd access
and it seems to be somehow most noticeable on the edges of the screen + immediately after you
have turned on the machine and its loading the OS.
It's driving me mad really. :|

if it IS a bios problem, we will have to wait for a new version

I've had this happen to me in both Linpus and WinXP environments.

    Running 120GB version.

I've noticed that this disappears after the LCD "warms up".

Same issue here. Both models (Samsung SSD and Hitachi HDD) and always with battery.

I get this too I have to go to the third brightness setting before I can only notice it when I look for it. I can see it happen all the way to the 5th brightness. It's really annoying

    Good news ( i hope)

I´ve mailed with Acer again. Today I get the answer :

es wird in Kürze ein BIOS-Update erscheinen, welches dieses Problem beseitigt.

Dieses BIOS-Update können Sie dann hier herunterladen.
    ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com/noteboo ... _150/bios/

in english : it will be a bios update soon, which will fix this problem.

So Acer knows about the problem with the Screen and will solve it

:x last time i buy a fucking acer
"Thank you for contacting Acer America. We appreciate your interest in our online support. Currently, all technical support for the Aspire One product is only provided by our telephone support staff at 1-800-816-2237."

LAST time i contacted support because they put a defective fucking video card (acer branded as well) in my machine, first they said i should be running vista, not XP (even though XP drivers ARE available), and then they told me its my fault, because i should be running LCD screens, not CRTs (when i sent from a new address pretending i was running vista)

I am getting this too. I really only notice it in firefox when I have the settings dimmed. I booted up a xvid with vlc fullscreen and see no flicker. Would be nice to see a bios update tho. My fear is that it will just get worse over time. :\

    exactly mine as well
im going to exchange mine for a new one tomorrow, ill see if its any better
besides, if acer cant make it work right in the first place, they deserve to lose money
i hope everybody takes theirs back for a new one, maybe then acer will get the message not to sell shit without proper testing
if they knew about this problem, its completely negligent they would release this product without developing the BIOS update beforehand
however, if they DID know about this problem, they probably WOULDNT have released it, considering a fairly large share of the market would return them, or not even know what a BIOS is (they DID release a winxp version), and would have known they would lose money
the only problem with that would be, can they actually fix it with a BIOS update, if it was a manufacturing problem?
besides mine did get worse over time, from flickering only on lowest brightness, to flickering on half as well
the first day i had it, i didnt even notice it at all

I've actually found the screen doesn't flicker on battery at lowest setting when I swapped to another hard drive that uses less power.

apparently all this does is disable the lower brightness settings
like i couldnt do this by myself

im really starting to think people who say they dont notice this just dont know what theyre talking about
i returned mine and got a new unit, screen flicker still
i went to best buy, tiger direct, and future shop, all display acer ones had this same flicker problem, so i hardly think returning it again will fix the problem
too bad i cant get a refund on this, exchange only
i wouldnt mind getting an MSI Wind, iv played with a few of them, considering they use the same chipsets and CPU and have no flicker, i can only say this was extremely poor design on acers part
however, i think the aspire ones look a lot better, and i like the smaller size as well ;)

Just bought my Aspireone yesterday. I am also experiencing the flicker problem. I'm wondering, should i return this and exhcange it for another one? Do we have people that don't have this issue?!

By the way, i got the 6 cell battery, so 3 cell or 6 cell is irrelevant with the issue.

Hasn't someone already said twice now that Acer's aware of the problem and is making a bios update? Don't panic.

has anyone checked (those with XP/Vista) that the Intel power setting for their graphics is set to something other than maximum battery?
