Screen goes black but computer stays on

    Whenever i pick up(or even push down or sometimes rest my palm on) my netbook by the side of the computer just left of the touch mouse pad, the screen dies out but the computer stays on. does anyone have any idea why this might be doing this? im thinking it might be some kind of piece im pushing down on thats shorting out the screen. im quite handy and would love to fix it myself. any clues?
