I posted this elsewhere but it was proabably the wrong forum.

I have a UK model AO522, it seems they all came with the lower res screen. 1024x600.

I was wondering if it would be possible to buy the 1280x720 screen used in every other AO522 and just switch it out?

    Thanks

I've seen replacement standard (1024x768) screens on ebay.

All state a 40pin connector, with the connector on the bottom middle-right when viewing the screen from the back.

The 1280x720 screens i've seen from the States and Canada, also sport a 40 pin connector but it's to the left of the middle when viewed from the back.

There is one UK site stocking some where the connector is in the right position, but it's a £60 gamble.

I've just sold my Dell Mini 9 so i'm tempted but would rather not be a guinea pig ;-)

Hi c-m, I look at the service guide for your Acer AO522 and to replace your screen (1024x600) with the 1280x720 the part number you need to look at is LK.10105.003.
I have another number B101EW02 V0 LF, from the service guide those numbers will replace the one you have.

Apologies for bumping quite an old thread, I thought it better than starting a new one on the same subject. I have made the unfortunately mistake of purchasing an AO522 with the same terrible display. I was wondering, were you ever able to replace the display with the 1280 x 720 version?

    Thanks!

    Ao522 screen 1280x720

hi, you can use the 1280x720 SD+ resolution because this is the usual standard resolution on the 522 C60 AMD hd, mine is broke and I am searching the web for a reasonable priced one, and that is how I ended up here. but be careful 1024x600 is class WSVGA and what you need is SD+ or WXGA, many ads mention WXGA but when you read the details it's 99,9% 1024x600, good luck.

I was unable to locate any 1280x720 panels, I could only find the 1024x600 version. In the end, I returned the netbook to the person I purchased it from. I then purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad x201 instead. It worked out for the best really, as the processor in the Ao522 wasn't up to playing 1080p media anyway.

    Hi,

I know that the OP has moved on. But, just for documentation's sake:

B101EW02 V.0 is an SD+ screen (1280X720 resolution) with a left hand side connector. They can be found easily enough. I bought one from screencountry.com's ebay store and installed it into my D150 pretty easily.

LP101WH1(TL)(B1) is an WXGA HD screen (1366x768 resolution) with a left hand side connector. This is the recommended resolution for Windows 8 and required for docking apps using the metro apps snap feature. LP101WH1(TL)(A1) is the same screen with a right side connector. I would have gone for one of these screens if I had not already pulled the trigger on the 1280X720 screen.
