Searched the forum but didn't find any posts with the same issue.
I have an 8.9in Acer Aspire One which had Linpus but now has Ubuntu Netbook Remix. If I boot without an SD card in either slot and then insert cards the left one recognises it (an icon appears on the right hand side of the desktop and the file browser opens) but the right one does not.
If I boot with cards in both slots they are both recognised and both hot swappable. (sudo fdisk -l shows both cards.)
If I insert a SDHC card in either slot before or after boot it is not recognised. (sudo fdisk -l shows no card.)
Is there anything I can do to enable recognition of the SDHC card? I remember that this card worked OK as additional storage in the left slot when I had Linpus so I suspect this is a UNR software issue.

Add "pciehp.pciehp_force=1" (without the quotes) to the default kerneloptions in /boot/grub/menu.lst, then run update-grub, and reboot.

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion using sudo gedit /bootgrub/menu.lst but was not sure exactly where to insert the pciehp.pciehp_force=1. I tried it at the end of the default kernel section with a # in front of it like the other lines already there. After saving it I ran update-grub and rebooted. No change to the detection of the SDHC cards and when I checked the menu.lst file my modification had gone. What did I do wrong?

The # in front of the line "remarks out" the line so only humans can read it, not the machine :)

Try again without the #, and if all the other lines have a # in front of them, it means wherever you have put your line, it will be "first cab off the rank" :)
