It only works when I boot with the card inserted which kinda defeats the purpose. Does it work on-the-fly for any of you guys?

I would really like to dual boot OSX on my XP only AAO. However, among other things, I am reluctant to strip the screws in a jumbled attempt to open it to add RAM (I've read that 1.5 is evidently necessary for Leopard) so will probably have to wait for the next netbook. Thanks for posting these details that may someday enable us all to run both systems easily, you guys are the pioneers in this area.

I am currently using an 8 gb Transcend SDHC and it works on the fly. I can boot up without the card and then plug it in and it mounts fine. I can also mount or dismount it at any time. Are you using the newest driver from the DellMini forum?
I am using the one one located in this post:

Yes, works for me every which way. Will mount no problem regardless of if it was in during boot. Maybe you need to run the OSx86 tools to install the kext and then clear caches and touch extensions and reboot. Worked for me.

Are high speed transfers possible as well?

I've done all, but for me works only if i boot-up with the sdhc in the slot.
    I'm using speedstep kernel 9.2.0

I used the ktext that JA posted and all is working fine for me...or at least the drive on the left hand side. Will the one on the right ever work?

Nope, Leopard runs fine with 1 GB of RAM here. You need at least 512 MB for Leopard to install, IIRC.
