Set Videomode Failed

I've installed Alawar Mahjongg Artifacts on her Aspire (her favorite game on her desktop machine) and it does not run. Alawar Tech Support recommended Alt+Enter to bring to full screen, and to alter the .xml file. When alt+enter tried I get an error message "set videomode failed". The .xml file is already set at full screen. W/O full screen the only screen that functions is the initial splash; the next screen won't even exit the program - you have to escape from the system tray. All video attributes are set to default. Other software (Bejeweled 2 and Ingenious) function properly. Can someone explain "set videomode failed" and what if any is a correction. The machine is new so I had no problem doing an uninstall/reinstall of Mahjongg, and "recovery" after a failed restore to reset to factory defaults. Alawar T/S is lost, as am I.

Acer Tech Support had no answer. I've compared the video settings with my Asus 1000HE, where the Alawar software does run, and they seem to be the same, but I still can't get MahjonggArtifacts to run on the Acer. The issue seems to be software specific, but no one seems to have an answer. I bet some one here does!!!.
