Make sure you do it on AC power and set it to maximum performance profile.

My Samsung NC10 N270 1GB gets 31358. But it has a WD Scorpio Black, that scores 10161.

I got the clockgen number from the service manual, and it only listed that one. I've heard the 8.9" used multiple clockgens though, so it's possible yours could not have the same, I guess. You can open up the system and go hunting for it...it's located somewhere inside, but I only know a little about that from googling. I'm not sure if the OS would change anything, but I was using XP when I set it.

Didn't want to work in Windows 7 at first for me, I had to tell it to run it as administrator and then it came right up. However, the changes I made didn't have an impact that I could see, perhaps its because I was on battery power at the time.

Off topic of this thread, but has anyone else noticed the models from Wal-Mart do NOT have bluetooth in them??

Where is your WalMart, and did it ring up as CAN NOT SELL and you got an override from manager, or did the sale go through without any kind of prohibition?

so when you set it... does it stay forever? I would be willing to try it in xp if it would stick.

The error I get is "PLL id error" from setfsb in vista, tried it with run as admin too

Has anyone else noticed that when overclocking the 751h beyond the stock 1.24GHz underclocked speed, while the wired Ethernet is being used, the netbook locks up? Wireless works fine when the netbook is overclocked to about 1.4GHz, but when the 10/100 FastEthernet port is my network connection, the slightest uptick with setfsb will cause the netbook to lock up.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this, or maybe I have a defective unit.

    For whomever may care:

I think I may have had a problem with my original unit.

I've exchanged it for another one (purchased mine at Wal*Mart). The new one is white vs blue, but I doubt there's any relevance there. I actually wanted a white or black unit vs. the blue or red ones. Walmart in my area doesn't seem to carry many black ones. All the black ones are the "display" models. Oh well, the white one won't show fingerprints as easily. :D

The new unit I have seems to have better headroom on the CPU, and is actually stable up to 1.5GHz (YAY! ), and Vista HB is actually VERY usable. :D The FastEthernet does not crap out when the machine is overclocked. :D Don't seem to notice any heavy impact on battery life. A full charge lasts just under 4 hours (about 3:48). Looking forward to availability of inexpensive 6-cell batteries.

Working on setting up Windows 7 RC on a different hard drive to test perfomance on that OS, since so many of you seem to be very pleased with it.

Great forum here - my appreciation goes out to the moderators!

    You can run OCCT (http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download)

If your machine can do an hour at 1.5 it should be fairly stable. My machine gives up at around 1.48 or so.

    Hi everyone,

Just found this website and I'm pretty happy I did. I was searching in google as to where or how I would be able to Overclock my AO751h. I purchased it from Walmart and at checkout they did not overide or anything like that. When i first turned on the netbook(previous AOA150 owner) it seemed so damn sluggish and slow. I then went to Acer's website and downloaded the newer BIOS and Chipset drivers. WOW, what a big difference, seemed like this thing just spread its wings after that. Its been an awesome little nettop. I was wondering about OCing this and began my search. I came across this thread and joined. Followed the instructions for SETFSB and putting in the ICS9LPRS365BGLF and I got a PLL ID error that some of you have gotten. I then continued reading in another thread about Walmart one and Costco one possibly being different. Now is this true? I wondering cause I would really love to just OC a tad to get her up to N270 performance. I'm not complaining about speed with it but I would love to see her run at 1.4. If anyone could help me out figure this I would great appreciate it. I am running Vista and I also did the administrator run on it but I got the same error. I have the 2GB, 250GB model. I also read that I might have to do some digging to find the right code? Please help me out, hell I'm even willing to give a donation via paypal to figure this out. Thanks

Hi and greetings from Hawaii Felix. I would kill to go to Germany and secretly I have always wanted to learn German, no BS.

Thanks for welcoming me. I finally did OC my Walmart Acer, so it is possible and I don't think there is a difference what's so ever between the one from Wal and the one from Costco. I was able to push her to 1.480Ghz but not for more than 15min. I still have some tweaking to do so we'll see. I'm very happy though that I was able to OC. The SETFSB version I used was 115.88. Works perfect! For right now I'm guessing the wall for most is being hit at 1.5 cause of the passively cooled atom. If better cooling were possible than(active then we could probably see a better yield. How is the Hyperthreading working out for most? I know that on my AOA150 I would have 3 youtube windows open at the same time and that would just fall on its face. Haven't tried it but I'll see how it does.

Hey guys. Thanks for all the valuable info on this board. The combination of using Setfsb and Notebook hardware control has been great. I do have one or 2 issues though.

It seems that even with my atom overclocked to 1.5 my pcmark 05 score is sub 900. Which is brutal. My 3dmark score is around 86 which is acceptable. Looking at laptop mag(http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptop/ ... spx?page=2) my scores should be over 1000 at stock. I have tried disabling all running background programs and setting the power scheme to always on. However CPU-Z still reports me as running at 900 mhz despite being OC-D. Other programs report 1.5. Is speedstep still activated some how? Any ideas on how to increase performance would be greast. Thanks.
