    Hello, first post here :D
So i've been trying to overclock my D250 with setfsb with NO luck. I've tried ICS9LPRS365BGLF and ICS9LPRS355BGLF, both of them read the clocks but when i click SetFSB all my sliders go to the extreme left and right and nothing happens. When i click readFSB afterwards, the settings don't come back. I turn off my netbook to avoid anything blowing up. In my continous effort to figure out how to overclock i came across a chinese website stating the following (i don't read chinese).

The bold item is what caught my attention. What my question is, is there anything compatible to that in setfsb? or has ANYONE been able to overclock this baby? or is everyone running stock.

Please comment/help/answer if you can. Anything is helpful.

The D250 uses the RTM875N-606. It is very difficult to run down any information on this PLL. Certainly, I have tried. The best that I have managed is that the RTM875N-606 is pin compatible with the SpectraLinear SL28640. You can down load the datasheet here: http://www.spectralinear.com/products/products.php?category_id=5&page=8&sort_by=part_number&, or type the part number into Google: the pdf is usually the first hit.

I have taken a close look at the PLL on the main board. It is TME locked on pin 14 with a 10k resistor tied to 3.3v. It can be unlocked by removing the resistor and then tying the pad to ground through a 10k resistor. Control register 9, bit 6 shows the status of TME - use setfsb select the RTM875T as your PLL and then do a Get FSB. If you check register 9, bit 6 is set 1. I HAVE done the TME mod I discribe above. My bit 6 is now 0.

However, that is as far as I have gotten. Although the SL28640 is pin compatible, it is not register compatible past register 11 with the RTM875N-606. I am stuck for now without the data sheet.

That is a lot of useful information. Although i haven't opened up my d250 (just bought it, wanted to preserve it's prettyness for a bit), when i do select RTM875T, setfsb is unable to read from the pll. It is able to read from the PLL when i select ICS9LPRS365. Which is kind of wierd because it does get all the bus speeds right. It's only when i change it that setfsb goes crazy. I think it may have something to do with speedstep as well. My computer never really crashes but the bus speeds don't change. Which leads me to believe what you said about it being TME locked. I guess i will break down one of these days and open it up to check if we have the same clock generators. Part of the reason i don't want to open it is because i know if i do, i will unlock it n prolly mess up doing it.

Yeah, it doesn't surprise me that there are different PLLs in use. I think the same is true of the 8.9s as well. But I would think that the PLLs are pin compatible. It will be interesting to note the pin count on yours when you up it up. BTW, the PLL is located just to the right of the bluetooth port - in my picture, the left hand side of the computer is at the bottom of the picture.

Not surprisingly, when I select the ICS PLL in SetFSB, I get a PLL ID error.

So i finally took apart my netbook. I have 2 hi res images of the front and back, but i can't post them right now because i'm at work. The Clock generator on my motherboard reads ICS 9LPRS387BKLF. I am not sure if it's TME locked or not as i don't have the data sheet. I'll post the pictures when i get home. Meanwhile i will continue to search for the Datasheet. It is still very wierd how the clock generators differ so much.

I wrote abo @ setfsb and he says:
which is sad - no overclocking for us then (at least via software only)

    I bought a AOD250-1924 on black friday.
Nifty little machine but I'd love to actually underclock it so it doesn't use 10 watts at nearly 100% idle.

Strangely my unit gives an error when I try to read ICS9LPRS365
But I can read without error when I select SLG8SP513V
(when I try to set fsb, it just comes back with the same old settings)
