Can anyone offer advice on the best way to setup Apache, MySQL & PHP on my netbook to allow me to do some development work, also what text editor is recommended?

    Thanks in advance

You can install Apache, MySQL and PHP from the Add/Remove programs system; you need to look at which packages are needed for php to run with Apache and do a bit of setting up in Apache's config files. Personally I've used Lightppd instead of Apache for a lighter webserver on this small machine.

Text editors: for web developemnt, bluefish or geany are likely to be your best bet.

    Hello,
You can save yourself quite a bit of hassle by installing XAMPP. Download and instructions are available at http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html.
You get reasonably up-to-date versions of the components and it works well enough on the AA1.
