Tripods. That's all it is. No really, if only more people realised you can't take nice photos indoors without one...

I can do better than that using my old 2 MP Canon camera
Watch my Vid on Youtube to see my AA1 vid
It was a little hard taking a macro snapshot of the LED buttons but it came out well.
    vid:

Some shots of my AA1 before the youtube video.

A Nikon D40, with an old manual focus 55mm micro-Nikkor.

The EXIF stuff is available from the flickr page.

Actually ishiverwhenipee is correct, whatever you might think: if anything its easier to do this kind of stuff with a compact than it it with a dSLR. To get the depth of field with a large sensor you have to sweat blood - in the shape of really low shutter speeds - whereas a compact can do it much more easily. And compacts usually have good macro working distances, too. For uploading to the web, 2MP or 12MP wont make any difference.

    - use a tripod
    - set your camera to macro, if it has that option, and the lowest ISO setting.
    - don't use the wide angle range of the zoom, zoom in a bit.
    - clean the dust and fingerprints off your One!
    - get some decent lighting, near a window or some such. Dont use the flash.
    - have an attractive, creative background, or, as ishiverwhenipee did, white cardboard if you prefer.

That's if you really want to photograph your netbook, which, I realised, is kind of a questionable way to spend your time really. Still, there are people who video themselves unboxing the things, so I guess everything is fair game these days. And if you are going to photograph your netbook: 1) make sure its a nice netbook (Aspire One : check!) and 2) put a mariginal amount of effort into it (see handy guide, above)

Some don't consider it that important but if you're dealing with slow shutter speeds as a result of using the lowest ISO setting, you should also put the camera into delay-shot mode. Pushing the shutter button can produce camera shake (as can a shutter slap so use a good sturdy tripod if you don't have a P&S camera).

That's important! I forgot to mention I was using the wireless remote. Its more convenient than having to set the delay timer each time, but the end results are identical.

Heh. This is not a minor point, especially for the blue One!
