SimplyMepis works quite well

    I just tried the latest (8.0, still Beta, I believe) SimplyMepis on the 160GB Aspire One and it works beautifully. Webcam seems better than it does in Fedora and Ubuntu Ibex. Wireless works out of the box. Sound works out of the box.

    The only issue is the actual creation of a USB drive. You have to do a bit of work, and it really helps to have another machine with a working CD, which makes it simple.
