Skype for AspireOne (Download link includ)

Hi all,

I found many people asked for Skype on their Acer AspireOne.

Skype V2.1.0.47 for AspireOne

Installation steps.
1. Click "ALT+F2".
2. Type "terminal"
3. Type "su -"
4. Enter your root password.
5. change to your download directory which includes skype.sh.zip
6. Type "unzip skype.sh.zip"
7. Type "cd skype.sh"
8. Type "./skype.sh", after installation, it needs to reboot the system.

Skype will show on Connect section.

don't install software from unknown sources.

 

It didn't work for me because the above package installs but will not open due to Fedora dependencies:
skype: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.9' not found (required by skype)

I used the static linux 2.0 version from skype.com. See "Correct version of Skype" in the Applications forum.
