    I just got my Acer Aspire One with Linux. It's a cool gadget!

    But I can't succed to install Skype. Skype is very important for me.

    It can't be so difficult. What I'm doing wrong? Has somebody any advice for me? Thanks!!

    Download Skype from this official Acer site.
    You only have to follow the instructions. The script will do the rest, even add an icon to the Linpus desktop.
    It worked 100% for me incl. video....enjoy...

    Yes, that really should work...,
    But, if you've mucked about with your system as much as I have, it might not :)
    In which case, you could download the install script from acer and install the files manually...
    e.g. something like
    $ ./skype.sh --noexec --target skype-inst
    Will dump the installer scripts in a new directory called "skype-inst", next do
    $ cd skype-inst
    $ ./skype.sh --noexec --target skype-rpms
    (i.e. this last line executes the *new* skype.sh you have just extracted)
    Now, the new directory created (skype-rpms) will have the rpms to install manually,
    For example, all I needed was,
    $ cd skype-rpms
    $ sudo rpm -i skype-2.0.0.72-fc5.i586.rpm
    (as I seemed to already have the rest).
    p.s. I don't think this will install the icon, but skype can be run from the right click menu anyway.

    Just to add to the above posts, I have just installed Skype via the following and all is working fine. :)

    1.Go to http://www.skype.com in your browser.
    2.Download the version of Skype for Fedora 7 and save it to your downloads folder.
    3.Select open with package manager.
    4.Click open and type your password you will have to confirm a few points and then choose to install this anyway.
    5.Once you get the massage software installed successfully click OK.
    6.Then click remove to delete the package.

    Hope this helps
    Regards
    Barrie
