I am not savvy with technology. I just tried my first Skype call. I using my tablet and the other person downloaded Skype on the Android phone. We could both see each other and they could hear us but we could not hear them. I had my column turned up. At the bottom of my screen were 4 symbols. One, a video camera, one a microphone, another a cloud type thingey and a red telephone. Why could they not hear us? What is it I need to do or am not doing? Any help appreciated. I feel so stupid.

 

I'm guessing either you or the other person didn't configure Skype correctly before the first call. Or maybe you pressed one of those 4 buttons by mistake, the red phone you saw is the button you usually use to end the call. The other button, microphone is to mute the mic, the camera one is to turn on or off the camera and so on.

 

maybe the other person has their volume on mute. just ask them to confirm. if not then your tablet's microphone might be broken/damaged. can you make regular calls without any problem?

 

Try the skype test call first to see where the error lies.
