Yesterday i purchased the Acer Aspire one 10.1" In Red. 160GB Hard drive 1 GB ram Windows XP.

I noticed this netbook is very slow, i mean it lags when im trying to browse the net. It has slow response and seems a bid dodgy,
I know its a 1.6 GH processer but i didnt expect it to be this bad? is there anything i could do to make it run faster, or even smoother?
I read many reviews and i was truly expecting alot more from this machine.

Ps. does anyone know how much MB the graphic card supports?

You can change the memory from a 1gig to a 2gig chip, takes about 2 minutes and removing a single screw, and it's cheap. Memory has always been the easiest and cheapest upgrade for computers, with the most noticeable impact on day to day usage. Updating all your drivers will help a bit as well.

The graphics are motherboard based, and graphics memory is allocated as needed. Nothing we can do there, but that is part of the specs when we bought it.

With 2gigs of memory installed, pages display fine for me 95% of the time. They may not pop open as fast as they do on either my dual-core or my quad-core desktops, but this little netbook is far from sluggish imho.

Replace the original antivirus program that came with your Acer with an AV that is light on resource(AVIRA, AVG, etc). Disable the wifi power saving feature of the wifi card. ;)

1gb to 2gb RAM upgrade would improve speeds if you use programs that use ALOT of RAM. But for browsing slowdowns like you described, RAM is not the solution.

Tamrac is absolutely right. Along with removing the included antivirus and installing something like AVG8.5, you should remove any other bundled software you don't use. Some of these bundled features have services running in the background that will slow your D150 down.

Here's a list of several different manufacturers memory sticks that will work fine with the D150, range in price from $20-$30:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...309121116 1309221136&name=DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

On the bottom of your D150 there are three panels, two of which have only one screw. The larger of these two panels is the one that covers your memory, the other covers your wifi card. Remove the screw from the memory panel and remove it. It may take a bit of prying, it's a good tight fit.

Once removed, you will see the existing 1gig memory stick. On both sides of it are small handles, pull these up and out gently, and the stick should pop up diagonally.

Pull out the old 1gig stick, and insert the new 2gig stick. There is a notch in the stick, line it up with the notch in the slot, and push it in till it goes down and both handles click into place.

Replace the cover panel, it may take a bit of pressing but don't press down on the center, just the edges so you don't press it down on the memory.

Replace the screw and your done.
