I can confirm that 10.6.1 (10B504) can be updated safely through Software Update! :)

Just repatch the 27ae after the system rebooted. And update the relevent IO*** kexts in the /Extra/Extensions.mkext if you originally have those.

    Where is UUID Kext?

    Hi SP1950:

    I continue getting KP. Grrrrrrrrr!

    One Question More.

Where is the UUID kext in your mkext?

In your image I only see 6 kext:

    * Disabler
    * FakeSMC
    * VoodoPs2Controller with this Kexts: (PS2Controller, Keyboard, Mouse, TrackPad).

And UUID Kext like you say in your guide????? Is it really necesary? Is it the cause of my KP?

    Thx.

    Re: Where is UUID Kext?

A screenshot for the kp is really useful for troubleshooting.
I have pulled my mkext since most of you here said it is blank when extracted with leopard.
And don't worry, uuid kext is not the cause of the kp. UUID kext is made to eliminate the error35s in the log and i guess make time machine usable?
I myself was not happy with a log full of err35s so I added the uuid kext. OSX can still boot without it.

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

    Kinda old news below:
I have recently noticed that cham2 rc2 does NOT work for all machines!
Even though I got rc2 running on my aoa150, other models or even other bioses may not have the same case.
So everyone should update to rc3, I mean REALLY need to update to rc3, even for the install disc.
Please also report the model and cham2 version installed next time when there is a kp/can't boot.

The Russian Method works so good!

    Hi!

The method that I proposed in last post, works fine for me. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=15345&start=230#p101936

Asrikaran comment this Russian method in English here:

    viewtopic.php?f=14&t=17376&start=0

Many line-commands but it works at first time.

I will continue with SP1950 until it works fine for me too! I'd like to make a retail installation.

I'm trying with files of Russian Method (DSDT.aml, plist, and his kext). If It works, I will post a hybrid-method Russian & SP1950 for AOA150.

    ;)

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

It's working, so just update to v2 if you like
(even though it is mainly focused on customizing the smc values in v2).

Re: The Russian Method works so good!

Let me sum my procedures up again:
    1. restore dmg to a gpt usb flash drive (easy)
    2. install cham2 rc3 to it (u can try the installer packages but i would go the terminal way)
    3. prepare /extra/extensions.mkext (just add disabler, fakesmc, voodoops2controller to save time)
    4. put the mkext in the usb flash drive
    5. reboot

is this possible on MBR? If not, surely I could just a flash drive?

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

Head over to insanelymac. There are some packages patched for mbr installs. I tried to do an mbr install at 10a380 but it was not successful. Perhaps I did something wrong, but I still think GPT is the ultimate choice if u really want to have a stable osx in the long run.

yeah, i had trouble with the mbr, so i just stuck with gpt. i had an easier time to configure everything with a separate boot partition.

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

I'm almost positive that I got this tip here. Install SL on an external drive formatted GUID. After the install works, copy it to an MBR partition on your internal, and fix the UUID's in your /Extra/Extensions/Platformuuid.kext, and /Extra/com.apple.boot.plist files. Then, you should be good to go.. That's how mine ended up working out.

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

I finally managed to install 10.6.1 through this guide, everything works as it should, thanks a lot. =)
You wrote that it's "really not easy for n00bs", but it wasn't really difficult for me after all, most time i needed was used at searching for the kexts. ;)

By the way, i found this about a modified chameleon 2RC3, do you think it could help our Ones to sleep (i guess with sleepenabler)?

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

That means you are not a noob after all!
I wrote that just to prevent random guys screaming around because sl screws up by their hackintosh skills :)

I doubt that sleep will ever work on aoa, but the bootloader you provided just 'fixes hibernation'. I think sl can hibernate with correct pmset settings. Anyway I don't use either sleep or hibernation, so I can't answer for sure.

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

That's what i meant - hibernation. It worked on 10.5.8 for me, maybe i try to get it to work on SL too, but very carefully...

I'm just a pro at googling, i didn't really know what i do there, but it seems it was good enough. ;)

Re: Snow Leopard 10.6.1 - retail guide

I noticed i have one small problem: my sound preferences.
I guess something's wrong - The entry Analog PCM #0: PCM resets on every boot to the shown position. Not bad, just a bit annoying. I have the newest VoodooHDA, what could be the problem? :|
