And also what kexts at all? i have voodoo ps2 atm, but nothing else. where are the kexts installed. I tried looking but safari on 10a380 is so fucked its unusable!
    Cheers in advance guys

Re: Snow Leopard - working here + guide

First thing first, update is a MUST!!!!
Safari is crap for any builds under 402, so proceed to at least 402, workin great from there above. Safe to go to 411, but wait until you are sure what to do with 421.
Do it via software update or download and run each update package (slswupdate and friends...) if the download is slow in soft upd. Google 'build no'+SLSWUPDATE.
A backup would be useful if you unfortunately screw things up.

    Google "27aepatch.command" for gfx.
    Do the kextcache afterwards.

I use chun-nan's battery manager, voodoops2, voodoohda and realtekr1000. U can use kexthelper for non vanilla install. Mkexttool can make mkexts for /extra if u want to have a better taste of vanilla

Before you proceed, make sure you have the gma950 efi string in com.apple.boot.plist in extra!!!
And it sounds like you have removed snow's org gma kexts. Get them back into /s/l/e/ or the patch cannot do anything!

    Welcome to snow leopard!

Re: Snow Leopard - working here + guide

    Cheers!
I removed the kexts installed by the package i used for 10.5.8 it was only integrated framebuffer and gma950 kexts. then i installed the 2 kexts with those names from the sl install disc manually using the install disc itself.
Cheers for the help, just about to revise, but ill set it downloading the updates!

    hey sp1950,
i believe you said that you were able to get the line in working, but did you have any luck with the microphone? i was reading online and i think i found a solution.

    http://thireus.dareyourmind.net/index.p ... our-eeemac

its been modded to max the microphone input. i believe the eeepc has the same (alc 286) sound card so it should work
i had (have) trouble installing the voodoohda.kext (a bit confuzing with all the prefpane stuff) and i killed my sound.
can you give it a shot?
ill be out of town, w/o my macbook mini until the 23rd
    thanks

btw, any1 else can try this, not just sp1950 =P

I had tried that kext, but NONE of the inputs (not even the line in) is working!
I don't think there is any voodoohda kext which can get the int mic to work.

    SP1950....
Cheers for all the great help so far, but could you please post the patched GMA950 kexts?
I have tried my hardest, but they dont work. I first tried the patch27ae.command script, running it as root, but no luck, says access denied or something similar. Even as root! And then I tried pre-patched ones for goodold google but they screwed my graphics.
So any chance of a nice upload?
Or even better your extensions.mkext form your extra?
    :)
    Cheers!

Re: Snow Leopard - working here + guide

I used the extensions.mkext a few pages back. Put it in extra
Then I downloaded and isntalled the voodoohda and voodoops2 and appleacpips2nub kexts from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... pic=175372
    using kext helper!
    Now trackpad
    speakers (rest untested)
    full res
    work
qe not sure. no transparent menubar. but then in system profiler, it doesnt have anything for qe, so doesnt say disabled!
Meh, makes no difference to me!

Still downloading from tpb... but with TONS OF FAILED DL!!!

It should work coz netaks has posted a new dsmos for GM.
Just load the dmg to a hard drive (as suggested in the release notes), install a proper bootloader, inject dsmos&disabler, and I guess you can boot it!

Re: Snow Leopard - working here + guide

Got the dmg restored to my external hdd, added an extra folder to teh root and put extensions.mkext in there. Then booted it using my installed hdd's pcefi v10.1 (mainly because the other partitions on my external hdd have bootloaders installed already so cant install one on the 10a432 one)
Anyways, it boots fine, but then when it gets to the grey background screen where the cursor first loads, that precedes the aurora wallpaper screen with choose your language, it stalls.
So obv nothing to add because it gets past the verbose screen so I have no idea whats causing it.

Also, strangely, booting in verbose gives it making a few ramdisks...
    Any ideas about those?

Re: Snow Leopard - working here + guide

So you got the 10a432 dmg? Wow, I gave up on downloading that... keep getting failed bits, will wait till it really goes gold. I don't have a RS premium ac so everything will be even slower than from tpb... I used to have free usenet access but it is gone. It doesn't look like 432 will be GM coz some are yelling about bugs, and others thing apple don't usually release gm to every devs in such a short time. I know what I said is crap, but these are some excuses for me not to download it yet

Anyway, try to use the new dsmos from netkas page. It officially supports 10a432 so this eliminates a source of problem.

The ramdisks are ok, coz I got them in my A380  install boot too.

Yeah tried again, after installing the dsmos directly into the install disc and giving it the right permissions. But still sticks at teh same place. Hmm...
