    I've done several successful hackintoshes over the past year and have never had any major installation issues until now. I am trying to hackintosh my own Aspire One AOD150. I have tried running a clean install of Snow Leopard but get an error similar to "You must restart your computer, hold the power button until it shuts off, then push it to turn back on". I am greeted by this everytime. I've tried booting in safe mode, with cpus=1, and arch=i386, all failed and show me the same message when booting.

    Any insight to what I could do? Tried using retail and Hazard distrobution, both result in the same error message.

    you can try to do this:

    if you have already another snow leo machine running, take out the hard drive of the d150, insert your 10.6 retail dvd, open the osinstall.mpkg in the system/library/installation (i think its in there some where) and install on that drive. dont forget to format guid. after installing, grab the latest release of chameleon rc4, install using the hidden EFI method. afterwhich, you'll need the standard kexts (fakesmc.kext, disabler.kext, etc) loaded in the extra folder. this should work. if you run into some KP's during the initial boot, you can try to use the kextcache command to build your mkext in the /extra folder.

    hope this helps

    @AoBFrost:

    Hello! I think your problem could be as simple as a BIOS setting. I found out through experimentation that MOST of the Snow distros WOULD install on my AOD150 as long as I UNCHECKED "AHCI" mode in the BIOS, in other words set it to "IDE" mode.

    I used SnowyWindOSXFinal iso distro from Dalton63481 (over at the InsanelyWind.com forums) and it worked well on my AOD150. I did an MBR format dual-partition install with Win7 on the 1st partition and Snow Leopard on the second partition. It is an out-of-the-box install that works with no additional kexts, although some kext tweaking will improve additional features that you might want.

    Give it a shot. As always, YMMV!

    EDIT: You may be able to leave BIOS in "AHCI" mode IF you also delete IOATAFamily.kext (kext for IDE drives which can also sometimes cause a kernel panic). Try one BIOS setting method or the other. YMMV!
