So are the problems cured yet - or not?

I've been waiting months to get one...I keep holding off until the wireless problems are cured. As soon as somebody says it's 'all fixed with the latest drivers,' somebody comes along as says they're having problems again with the new drivers?

Is it fixed - or not? I'm not going to buy a new laptop just to pay and replaced the wireless. I can't believe Acer hasn't taken care of this problem yet. :geek:

Just got my AA1. In Linpus before update, wifi immediately connected to my home wpa network. After updating, same. Then loaded Windows XP. Got the latest Windows drivers and wifi got immediate connection again. It even picks up a few neighborhood networks that my other laptops only occasionaly can "see". I don't see a problem. In fact, all features work as advertised. I LOVE this little laptop.

The problems are not with the hardware. They are with the software. I tried other distros and had wireless problems but once I installed Mandriva 2009 Gnome all the wireless problems went away. Also when I get updates for Mandriva I no longer worry if it is going to break my setup, which I had to worry about with all the other distros I tried. I have to say the wireless problems are cured if you use the right software.

And if you're using XP? :?:

It should work right out of the box.

I agree it should but if I remember right there have been several complaints about the wireless and XP. Trouble is since I no longer use XP except to fix and clean up my wifes desktop XP system. I don't pay much attention to post about XP.

XP here and zero problems. Connected to my network and when I've traveled has always connected to open networks.

    It is not fixed.

I bought a new A110X with WinXP End of November, later updated online the usual XP updates on top of SP3. I believe my Bios is the latest. I updated the WLAN drivers myself to 7.6.149.

Still when I go standby and then turn the system on again the WLAN is gone completely. No more icons for connections in the taskbar and if activated manually, no networks are listed at all. I also played around with Powersave settings to no avail.

I have to reboot to get it back working again.

    Regards

    Guido

A150XP. Had issues when new. Updated bios and drivers. No issues since. Works GREAT, as others have attested. With the most recent drivers, the best wifi connect of any laptop I have owned.

Can you please confirm it works when you go standby and then resume when a connection is established at the time you go standby?

Can you tell us exactly which versions of bios and drivers you use and the download links?

    Regards

    Guido

My A150 with Linux drops the connection occasionally and just will not reconnect for hours. [No it's not my router -the damn thing will drop a connection & not reconnect when I know there are about 3~4 other signals within range]
Which makes it useless, as the main purpose of the machine is Internet connection when I'm on my travels.

When it does work, it's fine. It's just when it doesn't work, rebooting & so on makes no difference. I'm not sure about other brands, but I would have a look on their forums to see if they work properly.
Pity, it would be a damn good machine if it worked.

XP Home, 120 gig hardrive, 1 meg RAM, Atheros driver version 160, bios ver 3505-- Turned off TCP version 6, and QoS in the settings. Works just fine.

I want to spend $379 for the laptop without worrying whether the wi-fi will work or not. I don't think that's too much to ask.
