Software Update Error

Having not been able to connect to my University's WPA Enterprise network I decided to try and resolve the issue by running the Software Updater. It happily downloads the updates and any additional packages it says it needs but then hits an error while updating. Does anyone know how I can resolve this? I've tried installing the updates individually in case there was a conflicting update but for each one and error pops up. I'm also a bit of a Linux/Linpus newbie so just getting to grips with the whole Terminal type-in-what-to-do thing! Help!! Mazzawa :)
