HI all. I recently received an awesome aspire one as a gift from my grandmother.... unfortunately I noticed (which she didnt at the time of purchase) that it was PINK!!!! No problem I thought, Ill tell her I love it and its perfect, just I want a different color so maybe we can go get lunch and exchange it for another exact model different color...... SHE CANT FIND THE RECEIPT!!!! Whatever Ive had it for a week now and love it. I wanna order a skin and put it on custom. I noticed the pink parts of the computer are all separate from the white parts.... I want to know if anyone could help me remove the outer pink shell. and the inner plastic surrounding the keyboard and mouse. Any help would be great! Note: I saw the how to remove posts for the keyboard but not the case! Please help!

i assume you mean the pink plastic cover on the LCD panel, and the bottom panel with the keyboard?

you have to dismantle the unit, so there are 8 screws on the bottom. 3 visible, 3 more when you remove the battery, and then another 2 underneath the rubber feet near the battery bay.

Then you have to remove the keyboard, i assume you've seen the instructions on how to do that? Be very careful when you lift up, so you don't damage the flat cable connecting kb to motherboard.

Then you have to remove all the screws holding the casing down. Should be 6 screws (1 silver). After that, just slide something thing along the edges to pop it off.

As for the LCD, I'm not 100% sure how to remove the plastic cover from it, i've seen how to remove the LCD but no real mention of the top cover itself though i'm sure it can be done. There are 6 screws to remove, 4 are on the top under the rubber, the other 2 are at the bottom near the hinges in the rectangular rubber. Then it is another pry job to remove the bezel. You have to remove the camera, and MIC board, then there are 5 screws holding the LCD down which will need to be disconnected.

Thanks! Thats a great start!!! I plan on putting a "skin" on my one. Since its pink though, I will need to custom cut the skin so NO pink is showing at all. I will post pictures of my one and its skin when done!

I also forgot to mention to unclip the touchpad cable as well (under the keyboard clip connector). I figure that's pretty obvious but not everything is to everyone.

check out youtube for some video clips showing you step by step how to take it apart. try using the keywords "aspire one memory" since there are a couple of clips about upgrading the memory, and you have to take it apart to do it.

also, use a credit card to help take the keyboard and lower frame apart. look for the youtube clip that uses it.
