    Morning All
I recently bought a Acer Aspire One with the 1 gig of ram and 120 gig H/D
It came with Linux installed,I duly formated and installed XP sp3 and away I went
I downloaded all the drivers from Acer and installed them
Now heres the rub there is no sound in fact the soundcard is not there at all
When I check the device manager the is a pci device and a sm bus manager with no drivers installed
Could one of these be the soundcard?
    All advice greatly received!!
    Many Thanks
    Grant

    Hi There
I downloaded the file as per the post and it says the update is older thatn the one I have installed and then it shuts down
Would it be worth uninstalling xp sp3 and reinstalling a version with sp2 only
    Thanks
    Grant

I installed XP SP3 no problem. You *must* install the chipset drivers 1st. Then run the setup programs for sound etc. I found that just installing via Device manager didn't always work.
I take it the sound did work under Linux ? (just in case it's a faulty card !!)

You needed to extract the files as per the last post in the thread.
