Sound problem | Scratchy and distorted

    Hi,

    The sound on my XP AA1 has all of a sudden degraded... it is now very scratchy and distorted... with lags during video playbacks. I suspect it is something to do with the Antivirus (McAfee). I reinstalled the sound card drivers, didn't solve the problem.
    Any help in the regard is much appreciated.

    BTW, After going nuts on this, I reinstalled the OS using the recovery tool and now all is well. I still suspect the antivirus to be the root cause.
