Has anyone considered replacing/adding to the speakers in the Aspire One?

I have an A150 (running OSX) that I often use for a make-shift boombox.
(I close the lid to shut off the display and flip it upside down so the speakers point up.)

I'd like to see if it would be possible to replace the speakers with something a little beefier.
The service manual only describes them as "Two speakers, at least 1.0W for each"...

I realize a small amp would be needed to drive anything significantly larger, but given the space constraints, I doubt any speakers requiring an amp would even fit.
There is some space in the screen bezel but that presents a whole new set of potential problems...

    Has anyone explored this topic?
