Since I just upgraded to the newest Mandriva, 2009.1, I am wondering what the stability of KDE 4.2.2 is like. I am considering changing it to KDE 3.5 but am wondering if it's time to make the move to KDE 4.2. Is it more stable and bug free now? I haven't done enough yet with it to determine speed but have most people found the speed acceptable on an Atom based system? I have a N270 on one system, an N280 on my other. It seems KDE 4.2 could potentially be slower than KDE 3.5.

KDE is the most beautiful but it consumes the largest amount of resources, the speed will be acceptable, but you have to wait a while during login. Especially on AA1, LXDE is a good choice, but you want it to be beautiful, why not GNOME?

I am using kde 4.2.2 (and now 4.2.3) on a aspire one, and it is as fast or faster than gnome here. Besides, for me it looks a lot better than gnome - and you can disable pulseaudio (even though not remove it) for extra stability and speed.
As for stability, it is very stable.
