Well it was said that the ssd was to slow and it was true but i have persevered and managed to get a system that boots in 55s from cold (bios) to fully working desktop and all applications run ultra fast no lag at all

    My specs are dw1390 card
    and 756mb ram
    8gb ssd

so here is how it is done download your Iatkos v5 as this is slimmed down with languages, etc follow rorys install guide and make sure to select the voodoo kernel.

once the laptop has built you will need to do the following
disable journaling this is what makes it real slow as it is constantly writing to the ssd
open a terminal and type the following (you will need to know what your drive is called in my case OSX)

to find the volume name type

    diskutil list

it will list all volumes and show a line like the following
    2: Apple_HFS OSX 8 Gi disk1s10

    to disable journaling type

    diskutil disableJournal /Volumes/OSX

You may require to do sudo (i did not)

    once that has completed
    do the following

    recovering space

to recover nearly 1gb do the following
    sudo pmset hibernatemode 0
    sudo rm /var/vm/sleepimage

You can then delete a few of the programs that you may not use such as
    mail (288mb)
    Address Book (56mb)
    ichat (114mb)
    itunes (136mb)

All these can be replaced with slimmer items (thunderbird, etc)

My boot time as i said is 55s from cold
    opening finder, etc is instant,
    itunes 12s

All this and i only have 756mb ram

There will be more slimming down doing soon but will document all later on

Also finder will take about 20minutes to cache the laptop after you have built it so wait till that has finished and really this is very fast

mail - 250MB is language kits that didn't get stripped,
itunes - 85MB language kits not stripped
probably another few hundred MB thru the Applications folder.

Monolingual http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/ allows you to choose which languages
to strip, post-install. It has a builtin blacklist of fussy apps that it does not strip, but
seems like it has trouble with Adobe and MS. It will also strip PPC code from fat binaries
if you want to go down that road for a few extra MB saved - as always RTFM ;)
