Did you install XP directly to the iPod drive?
I got an iPod drive, and none of the os'es I have can access it. Doesn't show up in BIOS either, but it spins up, so the cable must be right.
    Any ideas?

If anyone in the UK has a spare flip cable, I would buy it, I think thats what my Toshiba HDD needs.
I only bought a CF to ZIF adapter to get the cables, then it turns out they aren't the right ones..

    I have no idea,
I downloaded UBCD, and I'm using its tools to format it.
It has 5 tings that can erase drives, and 3 didn't recognise it. But now I'm using Dariks Boot and Nuke 1.0.7
And it's getting a write speed of 51000 KB/s approximately, and never below 51000....
Doing a 3 pass erase, I tried quick erase, but got an error, so the next shortest was 3 pass DoD standard-short.
Obviously, writing to erase is going to be faster than actual writing, but if I get anything near 51000Kb/s I will be so happy :)
Oh, it's got 1 hour 20 minutes left, and has already had 50 minutes, so 2 hours 10 minutes in total...

Just finished installing my Hitachi 30gb 1.8" Zif drive.

Here are the results from the ATTO Benchmark tool everyone's been using.

    Popol55.

I used the stock ZIF cable from the original SSD. I carefully pealed off the blue plastic strip on one end, then folded the contacts back over the top of the cable.

This creates a 'Flipped ZIF Cable' that will allow you to hook up your Hitachi drive. No need to reapply the blue plastic 'thickening' piece, because the newly folded cable is slightly thicker at the contacts.

Hope that helps, I'll try and take some pictures of the installation tonite. It was pretty easy all together.
