Hello, I am using an AA1 110, I would like to install Mandriva instead of Linpus. However, when I try to boot using a USB disk, many stuffs are not working. Can anyone give me steps to install a fully working Mandriva 2009 on AA1 110? Thank you very much!

    what isn't working?

I just setup my wifi on the live session, inserted a SD card, ethernet cable and did an install.
    everything I've tried works.

Mandriva 2009 is one of few systems working out of the box on AA1 - there is no need to tune anything apart from one card reader as far as I remember...

first of all, wifi kill switch not working, SD card reader not working, microphone not working...
and the AA1 in a using is 8G SSD, 110!
is it because i am booting with a usb disk?

That may be the reason as I have heard stories like that before and as far as I can remember they were all from trying to install from a USB stick. Try with a CD/DVD and you should not have problems.

I did an install from USB last December.
Only thing I'm aware of not working is the WiFi LED.
It did struggle accessing new wifi hot spots, but seems fixed with the DCHPD selection (think that's spelt correct).

Thanks for all the answers. The symptoms that I mentioned, card reader not working, wifi light not working.... All happened when I was in the Live mode, so I never install it. If I run the live install, will all the stuff get working?

wifi light isn't the end of the world is it?

when you install all the latest patches will be applied (have ethernet plugged in), if you have wifi enabled on the live session all setting will be retained and if you have an SD card in the slot the install should find it ok.
    my microphone worked straight away.

well, I am only afraid that if it doesn't work, I will have lot of trouble, and I am concerning microphone, webcam, ...SD card....

Here's what i am going to do: create a USB disk: viewtopic.php?f=72&t=9141
than put two SD card inside the reader, than plugin the usb, switch on, run live install, (remove unused drivers, tick this or not?),

Is this the best way to do it?

    Thankyou!

Worked like a charm for me Steven! But then again, I did author the original post.

The only issue I've ever had with Mandriva Gnome 2009 is a rare graphical anomaly that momentarily leaves a square image of the previously opened window above my current window, but it quickly rectifies itself. (Did I even explain that adequately?)

In any event, the hassles I went through installing Ubuntu in all its forms were definitely not worth the trouble...Mandriva has been a rock solid OS for me on my 110.

    Good luck!

I thought I was the only one that had that happening. I think it is some kind of notice that for some reason it is not showing. I can make it happen by unplugging the power cord. Oh! I also have a bug report window (which I ignore) pop up when ever I remove a USB stick or an SD card. Which I think may be due to the fact I use an SDHC card for Home. However I didn't install from a USB but used an external CD/DVD.

webcam worked straight away, if not (or to check) install 'Cheese' through add programs.

for general updates/patches, you get a 'red download' indicator on the tool bar or can check by going to:
system, administration, configure your computer, update...

try a card in the reader whilst u boot up (although mine work regardless)

I fixed my volume by trying the different settings found by right clicking on the speaker icon and the different windows that I opened doing that.

    Hi!

Just found that some one on this forum says that using the windows driver, the LED will work? Is that true, but will it affect the performance?

I have installed about 3/4 of the updates, still, the LED are not working, also after updating, there are two new items appeared on the boot menu. what are they? also, the wifi switch is too slow to work... next thing i am going to do is to install the rest of the updates, and install LXDE, and than see if the LED works, if not, I will try to use the windows driver. :D

I never tried the wifi LED 'fixes' as I didn't want to risk breaking my wifi connection.
