I've searched these forums and can't quite find the answer to the following:

I've added an 8Gb SDHC card to the expansion slot, should it do something so I see the SSD and SDHC seamlessly appear as one disk? In Thunar it lists my 2Gb SD (right-hand) card and "SD/MMC Drive" (the left-hand expansion slot) separately. If I can safely ignore all of this and Linpus will simply use the expansion card as needed that's fine. I've read a few notes on prioritising writes to the SDHC rather than SSD but that's more than I care to take on.

I've just run a sudo fdisk -l and the 2Gb SD appears as a FAT16 but that's got a .AVI movie on it and it works fine. The SDHC card appears as FAT32 it just doesn't seem integrated if you know what I mean.

Do I ned to do anything to merge the SSD and SDHC into one?

    Many thanks

When you open Thunar, does it show the storage on your SSD as 8GB or does it show something closer to 16GB?

If it shows as 8GB, it hasn't integrated the card.

Is it a Category 6 card?

Its a Sandisk 8Gb SDHC Class 2 card, and Thunar shows freespace on "home" as the remaining SSD space 2.3Gb and the SD/MMC card shows 7.2Gb, indeed as though it hasn't integrated.

Have you tried turning off the computer and removing the SD card from the right side slot, then restart the computer and after it boots to the desktop, insert just the 8GB SD card in the left side slot? The computer gets mixed up on its drive assignments if there is a card in the right hand slot. This assigns it the /dev that the left hand slot would use if there wasn't one in the right side slot.

If this then causes the merging of the SSD and left side SD card, then just leave the SD card in that slot permanently and then add the right hand SD card.

    Cheers.

Hmmm done that. The 8Gb SDHC card now has some folders on it now
    .wh..wh.plink
    Documents
    Downloads
    etc.

Does this mean its integrated and I can just leave file to spiil over from the SSD as required?
